Born in IJmuiden in 1966. Where now lies its Seaport Marina, as a toddler I was sitting bare-bottomed in the sand. Little bucket and scoop in hand. One could say I dug the first beginnings of today’s harbour. Started sailing at 10. Mediterranean sea yawl, Randmeer, 470, Flying Junior, Pion and the crowning touch of it all: a genuine hundred-year-old two-mast Clipper. Superb! Since 1999 on my own Copain (Koopmans 40): solo Great-Britain, Azores, France and back.
Since 2005 on La Promesse.
